After two years of forced break, the trio at the helm of the Bière Fest de Rivière-du-Loup festivities didn’t really know what to expect for their return to Parc Blais. But if there were any doubts, those were quickly dispelled, as thousands of festival-goers gathered to celebrate and rally, beer in hand, from September 15-17.
A few days after the end of the event organized in the heart of Rivière-du-Loup, Steeve Drapeau confided that he was still on cloud nine. The weekend was a rush of emotions, the culmination of a year of work, but the result was worth it. All in all, the 2022 vintage is one of the best since the creation of the meeting, estimates the organization.
“We are really proud. People have been there, back, at the same level as in 2019. It has not slowed down, ”shared the one who co-organizes the Bière Fest with his brother Erick and friend Christian Duchesne.
From Thursday, despite cooler weather, festival-goers were present. The Friday evening was a great success, as was the Saturday evening which even provided families in the afternoon. On the site, a dozen microbreweries and alcohol producers were clustered alongside a few food kiosks.
Quickly, the trio of organizers realized that the return of the festive gathering, whose backdrop is the discovery of microbrewery beers, was eagerly awaiting in the region.
“What I remember, what marked me, is really people’s smiles,” mentioned Steve Drapeau. “The festival-goers were happy to be there and they were looking forward to coming back. We have subscribers, people who are also there every night because they like the atmosphere. As organizers, it’s a great payday,” he added.
“What that tells us is that the event has also become a must. People put it on their agenda. It’s an important date in the fall for many people and they need it […] It’s a big group therapy before going into hibernation.
If no event is ever unanimous, and some comments have been made about the price of drinks, Steve Drapeau remains very satisfied with the return of the Bière Fest to Rivière-du-Loup, impossible without the participation of many partners and volunteers. He also assures that the meeting will be back next year.
