Amara Sy becomes sports director of Paris Basketball

After a rich career of 22 professional seasons, Amara Sy (41 years old on August 28) has been appointed sports director of Paris Basketball.

The Admiral changes rank but not ship. After 20 seasons in the LNB, including the last three as a Paris Basketball player, French basketball legend Amara Sy is retraining as sports director, the Parisian club announced in a press release.

The former ASVEL player will be involved in the business aspects of the club in direct contact with the president David Kahn and the director of operations, Mathias Priez. On the sporting level, he will work directly with the new coach, Will Weaver – who replaces Jean-Christophe Prat on the Paris bench -, the Team Manager, Antoine de Franciosi and the medical staff.

Emmanuel Mavomo new assistant

In addition to the arrival of Amara Sy, the capital club has announced the reinforcement of a second assistant – in addition to Bienvenu Kindoki – in the person of Emmanuel Mavomo, who coached the Levallois Sporting Club in NM3 last season.

The latter is also the new coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which he will join from August 17 to 28 as part of the fourth window of the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. He was also part of the technical staff of the women’s team. Nigeria at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo or the Toronto Raptors during the 2022 NBA Summer League.

The sports staff is completed by a fully renewed medical staff: Philippe Carpentier (physiotherapist), Pierre Alexandre Fabre and Yoann Ngamen (physical trainers). Note that Raphael Desroses takes the lead of the Paris Basketball Association Espoirs team and Kevin Akpah of the U18s.
