ATP > Philipp Kohlschreiber definitively withdrawn

Two days after announcing that he was playing the very last tournament of his season following his victory in the first round of Wimbledon qualifications, Philipp Kohlschreiber unfortunately lost in the second round against another veteran, the Kazakh Mikhail Koukushkine (7–6(4), 3–6, 4–6).

A final defeat which therefore punctuates a magnificent career achieved in 2001. Born in Augsburg, the former 16e world player has played in 18 singles finals, for eight trophies, with also seven doubles titles. Winner of the Davis Cup with Germany in 2011, he reached the round of 16 at each Grand Slam tournament, including a quarter-final at Wimbledon in 2012, beaten by a certain Jo‐Wilfried Tsonga.

Famous for his touch on the ball and his silky one-handed backhand, he is undoubtedly remembered by fans of the little yellow ball. Fair winds, Philip!
