Caroline Garcia dominates Kamilla Rakhimova and advances to the quarter-finals in Bad Homburg

The German adventure continues for Caroline Garcia. The Frenchwoman, 75th in the world, mastered without too much fear and in two sets (6-3, 6-4) the young 20-year-old Russian (111th), Kamilla Rakhimova, Tuesday on the lawn of Bad Homburg. A success which obviously has nothing to do with a prestigious victory, but which will do good for the Frenchwoman’s stats in singles, since the Lyonnaise had not reached a WTA quarter-final since the Lyon tournament at the beginning of March. (defeat in the semi-finals).

13 aces in total

It is above all by relying on a very solid service and by showing a lot of realism that Caroline Garcia kept Rakhimova in respect. With 13 aces in the end, the Frenchwoman was able to recover from delicate situations, notably dismissing six of the seven break points conceded. Conversely, Garcia took every opportunity to take the opposing face-off (3/3), even if the Russian helped her a lot, committing three double faults on each break point!

In the next round, Garcia will face the winner of the match between Belgian Greet Minnen and German Sabine Lisicki. Another Frenchwoman, Alizé Cornet, plays on Wednesday in Bad Homburg for the place in the quarter-finals, against the German Tatjana Maria.
