For its opening in the EuroBasket, in Podgorica, Montenegro, the France team won over Croatia (76-65).
The French caused a break in the score from the first act: 23-11. This, in particular thanks to the 9 points of the Villeurbannais leader Matthew Strazel, very fast in counter-attack and author of 2 three-pointers. It was fluid, a little less then but the advantage still rose to eighteen points (38-20.18th). The Croats lost a lot of opportunities to do justice on the free throw line, while seeing trouble at three points: 2/17.
The Croatian game then took consistency with more aggressiveness and a sparkling Leo Menalo (25 points to… 10/11 on shots) at the finish. Les Bleuets saw their opponents come back to their heels (45-40). To avoid a bad surprise, Matthew Strazel (22 points) and Clément Frisch (12 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) took their responsibilities, the defense regained strength, and France escaped again (64-50, 33rd ). The win of the match was assured, even if productivity gains are within reach of the French.
