Chérubin Tabanguet has just joined Strasbourg Schiltigheim Eurométropole Handball (SEHB), in French D2, where he joins another Gabonese, Mamadou Wora Dia. The left-back has signed a two-year contract.
Six months after leaving JS Cherbourg (French D2) for Raimond Handball Sassari (Italian D1), Chérubin Tabanguet returns to France. The Gabonese left-back has just signed up with Strasbourg Schiltigheim Eurometropole Handball (SEHB), in the French D2, like his national team-mate, Mamadou Wora Dia, a few days ago.
“The SEHB is proud to announce its 6th and last recruit of the summer! And it’s quite simply an Italian champion who arrives in Strasbourg. The former Cherbourgeois Chérubin Tabanguet has signed up for two seasons”, the club wrote on its website on July 15. Passed through Cameroon, Morocco and Turkey, he joined Macedonia and RK Pelister during the 2018-2019 season, with whom he contested the European Cup (EHF).
Before heading for Saint-Flour, where he panicked in National 1 (D4) with 96 goals in 10 games, then rising to Cherbourg (D2) in the summer of 2020. His first season in Normandy was rather successful (98 goals in 21 games), the second ended in January 2022, Chérubin Tabanguet having left the JSC where he no longer played much (18 goals in 15 games) to join Sassari with whom he won the Italian Cup. The Gabonese international replaces Robin Paris, who left for Dijon (D2).
“With a total of 36 games played in the Proligue (French men’s D2 championship, editor’s note), he compiled no less than 116 goals with a 57% shooting success! An offensive weapon in addition, in the workforce of Denis Lahoud. Very spectacular player, there is no doubt, he will delight the public! One thing is certain, there will be a show at Les Malteries! We can’t wait to see it in action! Welcome Cherub!” to conclude Strasbourg.
