In Saint-Philibert, Zacharie’s heart swings between sport, music and studies – Auray

At almost 14 years old – he will celebrate them on August 15 – Zacharie Choquier-Guilbaud is having a blast on the greens and football pitches. He also plays the drums and conducts his education masterfully. A fortnight ago, he became Brittany under-14 golf champion.

It was his father who passed on the golf virus to him. “He was young when he was. It resumed after I was born. One day I went with him. He got me a 7 iron and a putter. That’s how I started,” he recalls. He gets caught up in the game and finds himself in competitions. And he likes it! At the age of 7 and a half, he got into it “specifically” but remained primarily a practiced hobby.

Over the years, the young Saint-Philibertin forged a foolproof mind and acquired the essential technique to go further. Even if he does not want to install the pro circuit one day, insists Zacharie. “I will practice as a hobby for as long as possible. Make it my job? No, unless there are good opportunities… Why not do it every day”, confides the licensee of the Saint-Laurent golf course in Ploemel.

18 average in college

It’s not just golf in Zacharie’s life. This year, with his friends from ES Crac’h foot, he discovered D1 and played in the Morbihan Cup semi-final. That day, the “Greens” did not play at their level. “Maybe we missed it a bit, but they were stronger. We weren’t really a team. We could have done better, ”analyzes the defender.

For his balance, he also plays drums at Saint-Phil en art. “Playing lets off steam, it de-stresses me. It is perhaps thanks to the auditions that I played well on the second day of the championship, ”he admits. Between all his occupations, Zacharie finds time to shine at school. He has just learned that he finished fifth best student in 4th place at Saint-Gildas with an average of 18. Enough to open many professional doors for him, unless Zacharie chooses sport if the opportunity arises.
