Jazz reportedly set minimum number of first-round draft picks to get Donovan Mitchell back

For a few days, the Jazz had been discussing precisely a trade in Donovan Mitchellbut the price set by Danny Ainge would be huge. The Knicks, who would claim the most serious to recover the former Louisville in particular, because they have the best assets, would have called Ainge and the following package would have been asked of them:

  • Quentin Grimes
  • Obi Toppin
  • Emmanuel Quickley
  • Miles McBride
  • 6 first draft rounds

The supply is huge with 6 of their first 8 draft rounds. According to Jake Fisher, franchises calling about Mitchell would be told that negotiations would begin with a package including at least 7 first-round draft picks (if there are no other young assets)!

It’s monstrous (especially since a franchise can’t trade its first round picks of two consecutive years) when the Jazz got the equivalent of 5 for Rudy Gobert. Not sure that a franchise is ready to put so much to recover it and if the Jazz really want to get rid of it, it will probably be less greedy.
