L’Isle-sur-le-Doubs tournament. Valentin Cousin (Rougemont) took his revenge

The final of the L’Isle-sur-le-Doubs tournament (limited to 15/1) had an air of deja vu. As in Rougemont at the beginning of July, the two Rubrimontains Yoann Cartier (15/1, Rougemont) and Valentin Cousin (Rougemont), engaged at 15/2 but freshly up to 15/1, made it to the final.

But, this time, the balance tipped on the side of Valentin Cousin. Quite clearly even since he won 6-2, 6-0 in the final. Both had to fight in the semis: Cartier to get rid of the former 15 Aleksandar Beljic (15/2, Grandvillars), 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, and Cousin to dismiss Antoine Piranda (15/1, L’Isle-sur-le-Doubs), 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, after ending the career of Flavien Joseph (15/3, Valentigney), one of the men in the shape of the moment, in quarters.

Among the ladies, Emilie Martin (15/2, Valentigney) put her name on the list after winning three matches in three sets! Facing Nathalie Decroix (15/3, ASPTT Vesoul), 7-5, 5-7, 6-2, AurĂ©lie Vernier (15/2, Audincourt), 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, and finally Claire Belle (15/2, Valentigney), 7-6, 3-6, 6-4. Nine contested rounds and a title at the end of this course strewn with pitfalls…
