In the first half, Cape Verde managed to win by 11-9, while in the second half they widened the extra gap (23-18), which allowed them to qualify for the African final for the first time in its history.
The national team will play the classification match for third place against the loser of the other semi-final between Egypt and Tunisia.
The most important achievement of the Moroccan national handball team in this African championship was to obtain third place in the 2006 edition which took place in Tunisia.
The Moroccan team has qualified for the 2023 World Handball Championship to be held in Poland and Sweden next January, after reaching the semi-finals of the CAN handball.
Morocco will thus know its eighth participation in the Handball World Cup, its last having been in Egypt in 2021.
