Memorial Cup – Preliminary phase

After winning their first game, the Sea Dogs lost this time in overtime to the Edmonton Oil Kings. The formation of WHL was to impose itself after having defeated the day before against Shawinigan.

During the game, forward Jaxsen Wiebe scored twice in regulation time before completing his hat trick by scoring the winning goal in overtime. Teammate Carter Souch was Edmonton’s other scorer. Opposite, Raivis Ansons, Josh Lawrence and William Dufour hit the target. Note that this defeat has a bitter taste for the Sea Dogs who conceded 3-3 while defender Yan Kuznetsov had been unfairly sent to the penalty bench for having canceled the game. On the action, the puck had however touched the Bay window.

As in the first game of Saint-John, the goalkeeper Noah patenaude and the defender vincent Despont were not aligned.
