Opposed to the Italian Matilde Paoletti (920th), who was playing her first match on the WTA circuit, Océane Dodin did not have the game as easy as expected (6-4, 7-5) at the Palermo Open. The fault of a service (9 double faults) which cost her three breaks, especially in the second set when she was leading 3-2 before being overtaken (3-4). But, despite a proven heat, the Frenchwoman knew how to make her power and her experience speak to avoid a third round.
Succeeding Dodin on the court, but appreciated by the freshness of nightfall, Léolia Jeanjean (151st) delivered a solid match to overcome Ylena In-Albon (124th) in two sets (6-2, 6- 4). The Frenchwoman notably delivered an excellent first set before the match balanced out somewhat. On Tuesday, Clara Burel, Caroline Garcia, Chloé Paquet and Diane Parry will try to join them in the second round of the Palermo Open.
