Potapova dominates Niemeier and qualifies for the semis in Lausanne

The Russian Anastasia Potapova qualified for the semi-finals of the Lausanne tournament, dominating the German Jule Niemeier without being worried in the score (6-4, 6-2) at the Tennis Club du Stade-Lausanne, Friday in the morning.

Potapova, the 79th player in the world at the WTA, will face the winner of the match between Swiss wild card Simona Waltert and Serbian qualifier Olga Danilovic in the semi-finals of the Swiss tournament.

Before her qualification against Niemeier, ranked 109th in the WTA, on Friday, the 21-year-old Russian had beaten the Italian Lucia Bronzetti in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 6-4), and had clearly dominated the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, seeded n°3 (6-4, 6-2).

The 22-year-old German had eliminated Switzerland’s Ylena In-Albon (7-5, 6-7 [3]6-3), and had beaten the qualified Eva Lys without being worried by the score (6-4, 6-2).
