A look back at the great season that led the SUA Gaudermen cadet team to the final on Friday evening.
For the first time, the cadet competitions Alamercery (second year) and Gaudermen (first year) were separated. The Alamercery appearing in a group of 5 with the Juniors Crabos, the Gaudermen in a group of 10.
The latter were going to fight in a pool with beautiful names: Aurillac, Béziers, Brive, Castres, Colomiers, Montauban, Perpignan and Toulouse. The first four were qualified for the round of 16 on May 29, 2022.
Also, the season for young people from Agenais was disrupted by the Covid but above all by bad weather which made the facilities of Armandie and Rabal prohibited from playing rugby following municipal decrees. On this subject, a big thank you to the leaders of AS Passage who often put their facilities at the disposal of the Agenais.
The season really opened with a friendly match against Union Bègles-Bordeaux with a victory (11 to 8) which brought this comment from manager Gilles Cochis: “The young people have confirmed the qualities that we had detected. But we are in learning and everything will depend on the work provided.”
Then it was a victory in Tarbes, then in Béziers and at home against Montauban. It was finally time for the big test with the reception of Stade Toulousain and its stars Brennan, Elissalde or N’Tamack. Les Agenais got off to a flying start with two tries but, in the end, watched Toulouse play, winning 13-10. five attempts at the key.
We continued with a superb victory against Colomiers (53-33), nine tries which spoke volumes about the attacking qualities of this team. Given numerous reported meetings, the Agenais stagnated in fifth place behind Brive, Toulouse, Perpignan and Colomiers but four games behind. Castres is swept away at Armandie (46 to 7) confirming the victory of the first leg in the Tarn (33-19). The weather not improving the defeat at Aurillac in terrible conditions is not very significant especially since the following weekend, the Agenais were going to create the feat by winning in Toulouse.

Having gradually combined their delay, for their last home game, they welcomed CA Brive-Corrèze who had come to confirm their first place in front of an inevitable cohort of supporters. The authors of an excellent performance, the Agenais, sent the Corréziens back to their dear studies and qualified as number 1 in the pool.
Then it was the final stages at Vendre-Lespignan first with a victory over Valence-Romans, in the quarter it was Massy who lost at Guéret, and finally, again at Vendre-Lespignan victorious semi-final against the Committee Departmental of Isère (24-15).
We are now awaiting the apotheosis at the Stade de France against Massy.
