The Ministry of Sports decided on Wednesday June 22 to seize the labor inspectorate about“worrying factors” related to “social climate” within the organizing committee of the 2023 World Cup led by Claude Atcher. This decision follows an investigation published earlier today by the newspaper The Team.
The Minister of Sports and the Olympics, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, also seized “the public interest group’s ethics committee” (GIP) of the World (September 8-October 28, 2023), added his ministry in a press release. “The Minister of Sports has taken note of the worrying elements reported today by the newspaper L’Equipe relating to the social climate, labor relations and the management of the GIP France 2023 teams, in charge of the organization of the Coupe du world of rugby”, says the press release.
In this long article, The Team detailed “the working climate within the organizing committee of the 2023 World Cup is extremely degraded”. In great detail, the sports daily recounts a “deep social malaise”, where burn outs, resignations and anxiety attacks mingle under the influence of a “management by terror”.
The minister seized the labor inspectorate “to shed light on this situation”. She wants the conclusions of “These investigations are transmitted to him as quickly as possible”. “The social partners will be brought together tomorrow (Thursday) by the general management of the GIP and associated with this investigation and analysis process.
In the process, the French Rugby Federation (FFR), led by Bernard Laporte, announced that it would convene the economic and social committee of France 2023 “so that a social investigation is carried out as soon as possible. The FFR joins forces with the State in its desire to shed full light on the
internal situation”, is it still added.
