Absent for three years at Wimbledon, Rafael Nadal has made his comeback on the London lawn. Despite his short playing time on this surface, the Mallorcan will try to win his third Grand Slam of the season, after being crowned at the Australian Open and then at Roland-Garros this year. And according to Fabrice Santoro, Rafael Nadal decided to play Wimbledon this year because Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Roger Federer and Andy Murray are missing.
Since the start of the season, Rafael Nadal has been ruthless on the circuit ATP. Indeed, the Mallorcan has already won two Grand Slam since the beginning of 2022: theAustralian Open and Roland Garros. And while Wimbledon opened its doors on Monday, Rafael Nadal will try to get a little closer to the Grand Slam calendar. However, knowing that he did not play on grass or Wimbledon for three years, Rafael Nadal is not totally serene before going into lice this Tuesday against the Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo.

“Djokovic seems better armed to me”
“I’m happy to be playing on grass three years later. If I’m here, it’s because things went well, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. I am happy. My first game on Tuesday against Francisco Cerúndolo? I really don’t know how I’m going to get there, it’s hard to predict. This is probably the most difficult tournament to predict. It is a delicate surface on which you have to spend days. I haven’t played anything for three years (no grass tournaments), that makes things even more complicated. Memory is important, the most recent memories accompanied”a delegate Rafael Nadal this Saturday at a press conference before adding a layer.
“I thought that Nadal had to skip this tournament”
“The week went normally, with better and worse times, but clearly in an upward trend. I’m trained a lot. Yesterday was a disaster in training, I woke up with tired eyes, but then I played well. Today I am also well trained. The most important thing is that the bad moments on the pitch are getting shorter and shorter. The matches went pretty well, I trained with demanding people. I am sure that I will be competitive”a recognized Rafael Nadal. And if the ex-world number one is back to Wimbledon this year, it would not be by chance. According to Fabrice Santoro, consulting for Be in sports during the competition, Rafael Nadal decided to enter this season because several rivals are absent.
“I think the absences of Medvedev, Zverev, Federer, and Murray…”
“(Novak) Djokovic seems better armed to me. I had not taken the bet (Rafael) Nadal at Wimbledon, I thought that it would be enough to skip this tournament, that he would keep after winning his 14th Roland-Garros. But finally, finding himself in this position, with the Australian Open and Roland‐Garros in his pocket, he decided to come here. I think the absences of (Daniil) Medvedev, (Alexander) Zverev and (Roger) Federer – in addition to (Andy) Murray who is no longer at his best – led him to be present at Wimbledon this year. He may have told himself that his biggest rival would once again be Djokovic, but that he could fight his way through a table, even with a sore foot. But it still seems to me that he has a relatively difficult picture.a judge Fabrice Santoro in comments reported by We love tennis.
