An event not to be missed for lovers of oval racing in Lille! From July 21 to 23, 2022, the Rugby World Cup 2023 train climbed the Lille-Flandres train station. The opportunity for supporters, as well as curious young and old, to take part in a host ofanimations around the oval ball and this long-awaited sporting event.
A virtual reality experience
The first stage of the France 2023 Rugby Tour will be held from July 21 to 23 in Lille, the venue for five Rugby World Cup matches. The train will arrive at Lille Flandres station on July 21 and the first rugby village will also be performed on July 22 and 23.
On board the exhibition train, the opening match between France and New Zealand will be honoured. An immersive experience, in virtual reality, will immerse supporters in the atmosphere of September 8, 2023 at the Stade de France during the already legendary opening match between the Blues and the All Blacks. Meta, which offers this larger-than-life immersion, has also created augmented reality experiences within a physical and virtual locker room. Fans will be able to try out different fan costumes via filters on Instagram.
Still on the train, qualified teams will be honoured, as well as France 2023 positive impact projects (Rugby au Coeur, Campus 2023, Mêlée des Chœurs, XV de la Gastronomie, etc.). The visit will be punctuated by the presence of the mythical Webb Ellis Trophy, awarded since 1987 to the winner of the tournament.
Sports activities for young and old
But the party won’t stop there! The France 2023 Rugby Tour will also be marked by the presence of the Rugby Village, where sports events will be open to the general public, in the presence of ambassadors and players.
On a surface of 2000 m2, there will be a synthetic rugby pitch for the 5 against 5 tournament, containers housing the various sponsors, a France 2023 podium… Many workshops for children will be offered. Finally, speeches and entertainment will punctuate these two days of festivities.
