The NUC are renouncing to compete in the Women’s Champions League next season. The leaders of the Neuchâtel club prefer not to engage in this adventure which devours resources in financial, logistical and human terms.
The central committee tires thus “the lessons of participating in the qualifying phase of the Champions League last season“, according to a press release from the Swiss champion club.
“The structure of the club and the infrastructures of the city do not currently make it possible to respect the specifications” to compete in the prestigious competition. In the event of qualification for the group stage, the team would have had to play its matches outside the canton. Instead, the NUC will play the CEV Cup (2nd European competition), whose draw fate will take place on June 28.
