Wattrelos: COW handball celebrated its 50th anniversary

Saturday, the COW handball brought together its members to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club, run for two years by Najet El-Mediouni.

More than 100 people took part in this event around a barbecue near the Savary room. For the occasion, two former presidents, Hubert Parfait and Michel De Santi, were present to remember the good times of the club founded on June 14, 1971 under the presidency of Médard Dubucquoi. “
This anniversary comes to reward convinced and passionate leaders and of course the players who have written the history of the club, said the two former presidents in unison. Mentalities have changed a lot but the club has kept its family spirit.

Never stingy with anecdotes and stories, Hubert and Michel recounted with great emotion the historic rise of the club in N2 during the 98-99 season. They also expressed their pride in having trained players like Bastien Lamon and Désiré Parfait, who played in the first division, the highest national level, respectively in Dunkirk and Toulouse.
