WNBA: Marine Johannès and Gabby Williams beat their points record against each other

Historic night for French internationals Marine Johannès (New York Liberty) and Gabby Williams (Seattle Storm) in the WNBA, both authors of their season high points (23 points). It is even a career record for the first named.

The French women live strong moments in WNBA. While Iliana Rupert has just joined the Las Vegas Aces, her two acolytes from the France team managed to register their record for the season across the Atlantic last night during the victory of the Seattle Storm over the New York Liberty (81 -72).

Teammates Gabby Williams, Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart won. The French international totaled 23 points on 10/15 on shots, 9 rebounds and 3 assists in 32 minutes, three units from her career high (26 points in 2018). She scored the winning basket at 3 points 54 seconds from the end, knocking down her teammate with the Blues.

Marine Johannès broke her individual record in the WNBA with 23 points at 9/12 on shots including 5/8 from 3-pointers, we must add 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 interception in 35 minutes.

Rare fact: the two tricolor players both finish the two best scorers of the meeting. In the standings, the Seattle Storm is now 4th (10-6) and the New York Liberty 8th (6-10).

Note that if Gabby Williams has signed up for ASVEL and will play for Pierre Vincent’s team at the start of the school year, nothing says for the moment that Marine Johannès will also be there.
